A Relaxed Morning at Home

Watching a family simply spend time together is always where the magic happens, and this documentary family photo session in Brixton was full of those beautifully ordinary moments that end up meaning the most.

The morning started slowly at home with breakfast around the table — cereal spills and play around the breakfast table. There’s something special about photographing families in their own space, exactly as they are, without any pressure to perform or pose.

Natural family photos at a local Brixton playground

From there, we headed out to a local playground where the boys could run wild. They climbed, spun around, swung as high as they could, and enjoyed the time with their parents. Documentary sessions are always about following the rhythm of the family rather than directing it, and the playground gave everyone the freedom to just be themselves.

Documentary family photography at home

Back at home, the boys finished the session in the best possible way — bouncing wildly on the sofa! No matching outfits, no awkward posing, no asking anyone to smile at the camera. Just real family life exactly as it is.

I’m a documentary family photographer based in North London, working mainly in Highbury and Islington, Highgate and Stoke Newington but available to travel across London. If you want to chat please get in touch.
